About

The origin of Black Tie Electric begins when owner, Wichita native, and master electrician, Julian, was younger than two years of age and already enamored with anything and everything electrical. His interests were fostered by his grandfather, who was an electrical engineer, allowing Julian to spend much of his childhood stringing together various lights, switches and building circuits. In first grade, as part of a class assignment, Julian stated that he wanted to be an electrician when he grew up.  He has made that statement fact and even started rewiring his parents 1920s home before he was ten years old.

In middle school, Julian wanted to improve the quality of sound and lighting for his school's choir, band and orchestra performances so he formed “Tuxedo Sound Co” where he would always wear a tuxedo when running lights and sound for their shows. This is where the name for the now "Black Tie Electric" originated from. Julian's involvement in theatrical lighting and sound in middle school easily extended into high school where he spent an extensive amount of time not only running lights and sound but also installing and maintaining new audio systems and helping to build out additional performance spaces.

After high school, Julian received his degree in Electrical Technology in 2010 from Johnson County Community College. His first work as an electrician was for Cargill Oilseeds Division as an industrial electrician in refinery and grain operations. He later worked commercially for NetApp in data centers and a wide variety of research and development chambers. Beginning in January 2016, Julian started working for Electricraft as a service electrician performing work on everything from high end residential, commercial remodel, environmental remediation, fuel sites and more. All of these opportunities and his natural instincts in this field make Black Tie Electric the perfect choice for any of your electrical needs.
